Federer's quarter final with Davydenko will be his first match in Cincinnati
Roger Federer is through to the quarterfinals of the 2010 Cincinnati Masters by virtue of a bye in the first round, a victory via retirement in the second round, and a walk-over in the third round. After making the Sunday final at ATP Toronto last weekend, Federer could not have hoped for better luck to combat relative fatigue in order to make another title run in Cincinnati.

Federer will face Nikolay Davydenko in the Cincinnati quarters in what should be the world number 2's first full match at the ATP Masters event.
Federer and Davydenko have a fairly long history against one another and everyone knows that Federer has dominated the Russian in heads up play. Federer leads the career series against Davydenko at 13-2 with the Russian's two victories both being fairly recent: last year's tour finals and Doha 2010.
Since those back to back losses Federer has avenged himself howevee as Federer took Davydenko out of the 2010 Australian Open quarterfinals after trailing by a set. That result may have been Davydenko's last good chance at winning a Slam as the Russian is in his late 20s and is now injury prone.
Perhaps Davydenko's defeat of David Ferrer in the round of 16 suggests that the world number 6 is back to playing good tennis after a series of weak losses however Federer seems very likely to beat Davydenko once again as Fed, unlike Davydenko, actually has recent wins over players in the top 10.
