Few more daunting places exist in New Zealand rugby at ITM Cup finals time than AMI Stadium, and that is what Wellington will struggle to overcome against Canterbury on Friday.
VENUE & TIME: AMI Stadium, Christchurch, Friday October 29, 19.35 NZT.

Canterbury has made one change from last week, with lock Luke Romano over the knee problem that has kept him out for a couple of weeks and back into the run-on XV. Wellington made two changes, with Shaun Treeby and Faifili Levave coming back into the starting team. The Lions had a few players who needed time to pass muster, but all have been ruled fit. Rodney So'oialo was available for selection but not chosen.
Canterbury had been rolling along in fine style until last week, when Waikato did a job on the red-and-black forwards that paved the way to a 20-point win, by far the heaviest defeat of the three Canterbury suffered in the round-robin. While both sides went down the physical road, Canterbury could not match the commitment of a fired-up Waikato side although limiting the damage to two tries was enough to ensure top qualifying spot. Wellington made sure of fourth by staging a second-half comeback at Invercargill; results earlier in the round meant the Lions only had to win without worrying about a bonus point to make the playoffs and they did that happily enough. After a patchy season, Wellington has played its best rugby of 2010 in the last two weeks.
